We serve our city and community each year by providing bottled water to be placed in the gift bags of the Wharf to Wharf Race participants and giving away bottled water and other “goodies” to race officials and the crowd gathered in Capitola Village following the race.
Last year our Wharf to Wharf Race Outreach was a huge success. We gave away 15,000 bottles of water, 500 commemorative bookmarks and 150 rubber duckies & mini-beach balls (which were a very BIG HIT with the crowd!)…AND we left a Christ-centered witness of good works to our city (Matthew 5:16). Several racers commented on how much they appreciated seeing a church as a race sponsor. A few asked about our church as well and why we were giving stuff away. We even received an email from a racer praising our efforts. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED MAKE LAST YEAR’S OUTREACH SUCH A SUCCESS!!
Once again we will be sponsoring the Wharf to Wharf Race in 2012. To raise funds to pay for the water bottles, we will be selling raffle tickets and having a Raffle Drawing & Shepherd’s Pie Lunch on Sunday, March 25 at 12:15 pm in the church gym. Tickets are only $5 each – and you can win some really cool prizes (and you don’t have to be present to win)!!
